Accademia Costume & Moda (Rome -1964) together with CKM are pleased to announce the birth of CKD – Creative Knitwear Design: the only Italian Master’s degree in Creative Knitwear, which will begin this October.

A unique course of study that embraces the creative process, supported by a network of industry partners from the world of knitting together with Accademia Costume & ModaIMAX – Max Mara Fashion Group  and the celebrated Modateca Deanna as the frame and catalyst. A Technical Committee comprising some of the most prestigious names in the sector. These are some of the characteristics of CKD – Creative Knitwear Design, the only Italian Master’s degree in creative knitwear in the world.
“Nurturing talent and creativity in order to locate an innovative approach to knitwear”. This is the mission of the Master’s course in the words of Deanna Ferretti, Chairman of the historic knitwear factory Miss Deanna Spa, co-founder of Modateca Deanna and the principal lecturer of the Creative Knitwear Design (CKD) Master’s course
The mission is fully embedded within this course of study, explains Adrien Roberts Director of Education at Accademia Costume & Moda in Rome, which provides both some of the formal teaching elements as well as experiential learning experiences at partner companies. The philosophy behind this 1st level Master’s Degree (60 credits ECTS), fully recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education (MIUR), is to provide participants with the cutting edge tools, as well as traditional craft, from research to experimentation to design development through to the implementation of their collection. This is underpinned by a cultural framework course of study at Accademia Costume & Moda and the “trade secrets” known only within the Italian district of knitwear which all support the students in the design of their capsule knitwear collection.

A Master’s course of international standing for creative people who want to excel in the world of Knitwear.

The course will start October 4th, 2016 and will end in June 2017with a dedicated event and will take place during an itinerary in search of the genius loci between Emilia Romagna, Veneto, Marche and Rome.
