BRUNELLO CUCINELLI INDUSTRY PROJECT | MASTER IN CREATIVE KNITWEAR DESIGN

The Industry Project involving our Master in Creative Knitwear Design students has come to a close at the Brunello Cucinelli headquarters in Solomeo.

Following the Launch of the Brief and a Mid Revision that enabled students to discuss the development of their projects with the company team, the journey concluded with the Final Presentation, a valuable opportunity for dialogue and direct exchange with the brand.

The final presentations were attended by Carolina Cucinelli and several members of the Brunello Cucinelli team, who welcomed the students to Solomeo to discover the capsule collections developed throughout the project and to share feedback and insights on the work presented.

Entitled “Shades of Heritage”, the brief invited students to reflect on the concept of heritage as a living entityf, capable of evolving and transforming while remaining true to its identity. Drawing inspiration from the values that define the Brunello Cucinelli universe — manufacturing excellence, craftsmanship, material quality, sustainability and humanistic values — students were asked to develop an individual design project aligned with the brand’s DNA.

Guided by Simona Barbieri, Project Leader, with the support of Chiara Borghi, students worked on the creation of a ten-look capsule collection, reinterpreting key elements of Brunello Cucinelli’s heritage through a contemporary approach to three-dimensional knitwear design.

Textures, relief effects, layering and innovative knitting techniques became the tools through which students explored new forms of gentle luxury, where materiality, craftsmanship and savoir-faire take centre stage.

The project encouraged a profound reflection on the relationship between innovation and memory, technology and craftsmanship, while promoting the use of noble fibres, sustainable yarns and manufacturing processes capable of combining research with exceptional quality.

The collections presented offered original interpretations of the brief, united by a thoughtful exploration of proportion, material depth and contemporary aesthetics, all while remaining consistent with the brand’s vision.

The Final Presentation represented an important professional milestone for the students, giving them the opportunity to present their work directly to one of the most influential names in international luxury and Italian knitwear.

Industry Projects such as this are among the defining features of the Master in Creative Knitwear Design, enabling students to engage with real briefs and develop creative, technical and strategic skills through direct dialogue with leading industry companies.
