ANTONIO MARRAS INDUSTRY PROJECT | MID REVISION | MASTER IN CREATIVE KNITWEAR DESIGN

From research to the first design proposals, our Master in Creative Knitwear Design students have reached an important stage of their Industry Project in collaboration with Antonio Marras, presenting their research, concept development, moodboards, knitwear experiments and initial design proposals.

The Mid Revision provided an opportunity for direct dialogue with Patrizia Marras, Head of Style Department, and Efisio Rocco Marras, Product Manager, who shared valuable observations, feedback and suggestions to support the development of the students’ projects.

From Research to Knitwear Design

The Industry Project began with a Launch Brief at the Nonostante Marras store in Milan, where students had the opportunity to engage with the creative world of Antonio Marras and explore the values that define the brand: a strongly narrative approach to fashion, where craftsmanship, research, art, theatre, music and culture come together.

Guided by Project Leader Gigi Vezzola and Assistant Chiara Borghi, students are developing a Women’s and Menswear Autumn/Winter 2027 capsule collection, comprising at least 10 total looks entirely created in knitwear.

The brief calls for a high level of technical and creative experimentation: from research into different knitting techniques and stitches to the combination of innovative and contrasting yarns, as well as the development of complex garments, including outerwear and lower-body pieces created entirely through knitwear, without the use of woven fabric.

The challenge lies in translating Antonio Marras’ aesthetic and poetic universe through the language of knitwear, while developing an individual and contemporary creative vision. Each student is therefore encouraged to build their own design narrative, transforming research into coherent and tangible design solutions.

The Mid Revision: Dialogue and Development

The Mid Revision marked a key stage in the project. Presenting their work directly to professionals from the brand allowed students to test the decisions they had made so far, receiving valuable guidance on creative direction, the consistency of their concepts and opportunities for further experimentation.

The dialogue with Patrizia Marras and Efisio Rocco Marras transformed the review into a meaningful exchange: an opportunity for students to question their own projects, strengthen their design identity and understand how research, technique and creative vision can come together in the development of a knitwear collection.

The project will now continue towards the Final Presentation, when students will showcase their completed collections, demonstrating the evolution of their work from initial research through to the final outcomes. At the end of the Industry Project, one selected student will also have the opportunity to further develop their project with the Antonio Marras team, turning their academic work into an even more tangible professional experience.

Education, Research and Industry: The Accademia Costume & Moda Approach

Industry Projects are a central part of Accademia Costume & Moda’s educational approach, giving students the opportunity to engage with companies, brands and industry professionals throughout their studies through real briefs and professional design processes.

For our Master in Creative Knitwear Design students, experiences like this mean learning how to translate research into design, experiment with techniques and materials, and develop an individual vision through direct engagement with the industry.

Our sincere thanks to Antonio Marras and the entire team, as well as Oniverse Group, for their support, generosity and for giving our students the opportunity to engage with one of the most distinctive creative voices in Italian fashion.
