Designed in collaboration with numerous manufacturing companies of Made in Italy, this Master course is aimed at shaping professional profiles linked to creativity innovative research and fabric development able to connect the design studios with the suppliers in the development of a collection. During the study path, students will be involved in five Industry Projects.
The course is divided into modules that include lectures, theoretical-practical classes, Industry Projects. Lectures and theoretical-practical classes are focused on history of fashion (and of fabrics), new technologies, typology of materials, computer graphics and professional development. The Industry Projects, instead, involve the participation of the most relevant companies of the field together with professionals and designers that follow the development of the project. Each Industry Project is aimed at balancing technical competences, conceptual research, experimentation and the development of the final project. An essential part of the course consists in the visits to museums of textile/of fashion, to companies and fairs. Visiting professors and the study of specific Case Histories contribute to stimulate a critical thinking approach and the debate on the current state of the sector and the future challenges that characterize it.
The final work consists of a presentation of a complete collection of fashion fabrics developed with different techniques with evidence of conceptual and explorative research, primary and secondary research and the narrative of all the process that has led to its creation.REQUEST INFORMATION
Responsible Création Matières for Louis Vuitton and Dior. His career starts in 1993, even before finishing his studies at Accademia Costume & Moda, as Product Manager for the manufacturing company Ittierre following the important supply to Dolce & Gabbana. Three years later he works for Romeo Gigli and later for Versace as Responsible for the renovation of Gianni Versace’s archive after two years from his death. In 1999 joins Prada as Head of Fabric Research.
Director of the Master
Professor of Textile Culture and Materials Technology. Scholar of fabric and dyeing with natural coloring materials, she graduated in Conservation of Cultural Heritage with a thesis on Italian Textile Collections and then specialized in the Analysis and Recognition of Textiles according to C.I.E.T.A. (Center International d’Etude des Textiles Anciens, Lyon) at the Lisio Silk Art Foundation of Florence. She collaborates with the Fondazione Genti d’Abruzzo and the Fondazione Arte della Seta Lisio for the TessArt’è Project, she founded and she is scientific coordinator and curator of the exhibition “Tessere è Arte”.
At the end of the Master, the Careers & Placement office of Accademia, in collaboration with important manufacturing companies and brands is committed to offer its students the opportunity to access interviews to start their career. Accademia has a placement ratio that exceeds 85% on the total student population. The office follows the candidates throughout the all process: from the editing of the curriculum vitae, to the portfolio review and its personalization with respect of specific requests, right to the first interview and the insurance activation in case of internship.
The main aim of the Industry Projects is to develop, together with the manufacturing districts and Maisons, the level of commitment, professionality, creativity, innovation and deep knowledge of Made in Italy, of the roots and objectives of the Luxury Brands both in terms of product and of experimentation and communication.
Part of the study experience of the Master consists in the opportunity to visit companies, maisons, ateliers and archives, participate to fairs with research purposes and meetings in Accademia with important professionals such as: Creative Directors, Managing Directors, Fashion and Communication Entrepreneurs, Head of HR, Talent Acquisition Managers, Experts in Responsible Innovation and Sustainability, Artists, Journalists, Fashion Editors, Stylists, Photographers.
