The Final Presentation marked the conclusion of “Heritage in Collision”, the Industry Project developed by our Master in Fabrics Innovation Design students in collaboration with Isa Seta, one of Italy’s historic companies specialising in the production of high-quality textiles.
Following the Brief Launch at the company’s headquarters and months of research, experimentation and project development, the students, guided by Project Leader Giampiero Arcese, presented their work to Roberta Berman, Commercial Product Manager at Isa Seta, sharing the creative process behind each proposal and showcasing the outcome of months of study and exploration.
The Final Presentation represented the culmination of a project that challenged students to engage with a real industry brief, exploring the dialogue between textile heritage and contemporary innovation. Inspired by the concept «Heritage in Collision», each student developed an individual research project, reinterpreting Isa Seta’s cultural and material heritage through an original design language.
The brief explored the meeting point between two seemingly contrasting worlds: the elegance of New York’s high society and the creative energy of the downtown scene. Drawing on cultural, artistic and visual references, students investigated themes such as identity, memory, transformation and cultural representation, translating their research into innovative contemporary textile surfaces.
Concept development, material experimentation, textile sampling and creative research demonstrated not only the final outcomes, but also the design process that transformed ideas and intuition into proposals aligned with the company’s identity and values.
The opportunity to present their work directly to Roberta Berman offered students valuable professional insight, allowing them to receive constructive feedback and engage in meaningful dialogue with an industry expert. An experience that further strengthened their understanding of the creative and production processes shaping today’s textile industry.
Industry Projects are a defining element of the Master in Fabrics Innovation Design and, more broadly, of Accademia Costume & Moda‘s educational approach. Through collaborations with leading companies, students work on real briefs, experience professional design processes and develop industry-ready skills while building a continuous dialogue between research, creativity and the fashion industry.
Our sincere thanks go to the entire Isa Seta team for supporting our students throughout this journey, generously sharing their expertise, vision and invaluable feedback. Their continued support made this Industry Project an enriching learning experience, reinforcing the importance of collaboration between academia and industry in shaping the next generation of creative professionals.
