As part of the Sustainable Thinking exhibition at the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum (12 April 2019 – 8 March 2020), the Young Talents for Sustainable Thinking project was launched targeting eight international fashion schools, including the Costume & Fashion Academy.
The students were called upon to carry out projects on the theme of sustainability and recycling using materials, otherwise destined for destruction, which Salvatore Ferragamo donated to individual schools. These materials have been integrated with other recycled ones, with a view to circular creativity.
Patchwork is the technique that is required for this project. It has developed over the past centuries among the American pioneers who recycled the best parts of their clothing or recovered the scraps of home packaging. It is an art that allows creativity to be freely expressed.
The proposed models have been evaluated by a special jury composed of internal members of the company, specialists of the factor and fashion journalists
Congratulations to our students selected for the contest: Maital Levitan of the Alta Moda Master, selected with his “Mix and Match Jungle” headdress; Evita Ellis, Etienne Terret, Liselotte Verpoest, from the Master in Accessory Design, with their “Conteiner of Content” bag; and Mladen Cvetkov, Master in Accessory Design, with her “Reptilia” bag.
The creations were exhibited at Pitti Immagine Filati, June 2019, during the Sustainable Thinking Exhibition curated by the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum.
