Our MA in Accessories Design students presented their final projects during the Final Presentation of the Industry Project developed in collaboration with Louis Vuitton, marking a key milestone in their academic journey. This achievement represents the culmination of months of research, experimentation and design development, as well as an important opportunity to engage directly with one of the most iconic Maisons in the international luxury landscape.
Accademia Costume & Moda is the only Italian school to develop an Industry Project dedicated to accessories design with Louis Vuitton, offering students a truly unique opportunity to connect with one of the most influential players in the sector.
Following the launch of the brief “Future Icons: Reimagining the Louis Vuitton Bag for 2054”, led by Project Leader Luigi Mulas Debois with the support of assistant Paolo Rinaldi, students embarked on a complex and articulated journey, exploring future scenarios, evolving consumer behaviours and the transformation of the concept of luxury. Starting from an in-depth analysis of the Maison’s identity, participants worked to translate the aesthetic and cultural codes of Louis Vuitton into a contemporary, forward-looking vision, imagining the next iconic bag for the woman of 2054.
During the Final Presentation, students also had the opportunity to engage directly with members of the Louis Vuitton team:
– Millie De La Valette, Head of Creative Talent Acquisition;
– Edin Eder, Head of Design Leather Goods Studio;
– Florian Hassiotis, Headquarters Campus Talent Acquisition Manager.
From initial research to creative concepts, through to the development of prototypes and visual narratives capable of expressing each proposal in a coherent and innovative way, students experienced a moment of intense design engagement, where vision, methodology and synthesis came together, generating multiple interpretations of the future of luxury accessories.
Among the projects presented, Summure Gordon’s stood out in particular. She was awarded for her commitment, the quality of her research and the strength of her design proposal. As a result, she has been offered an extraordinary opportunity: to develop her prototype at the Louis Vuitton factory in Florence. A concrete and highly formative experience that creates a direct bridge between education and industry, transforming an idea into a tangible product developed according to the highest standards of artisanal savoir-faire.
This outcome once again confirms the value of Accademia Costume & Moda’s educational approach, based on the integration of research, design development and direct engagement with the professional world. Projects like this enable students to develop a mature design perspective, capable of engaging with the dynamics of the contemporary fashion system.
A heartfelt thank you to the entire team at Louis Vuitton for their incredible support, and to Sarah Azzoug, Headquarters Campus School Partnership & Engagement, for making this collaboration possible.
