OVERVIEW & OBJECTIVES

The Bachelor of Arts in Graphic & Media Design — MUR official title: Media Design and Multimedia Arts — is a three-year academic programme designed for those who want to work with images, graphics, video and artificial intelligence.

Today, brands communicate through increasingly dynamic languages: digital campaigns, social media content, experiences, virtual worlds, installations and events.

You will learn to design like an international creative professional, able to work for any brand by combining graphic design, media design and brand experience. Throughout the three years, students progressively acquire the techniques, software and tools needed to conceive, design and produce concrete creative outputs.

The programme starts from the foundations of visual communication — layout, typography, composition and visual identity — and moves on to the production of static and moving images, photography, videomaking, directing, motion design, sound design, AI visuals, interactive projects, gamification and generative art.

Through theoretical lessons, workshops, design studios and activities with lecturers and industry professionals, the programme allows students to acquire the skills currently required by the job market. In the third year, through the Industry Project, students work with companies to put into practice what they have learned and experience first-hand how a creative project takes shape in the professional world.

This course prepares students for roles such as Graphic Designer, Media Designer, Art Director, Content Producer, Video Maker, Motion Designer, AI Visual Creator, Interaction & Gamification Designer, Brand Experience Designer, Event & Show Media Designer, Media Artist, and other creative profiles connected to the new languages of visual communication.

1st YEAR – CULTURE AND LANGUAGES

The first year focuses on building the cultural and design foundations of the programme.

Students acquire the essential tools needed to understand and use contemporary visual languages through the study of graphic design, content design, photography, video and digital media.

Theoretical subjects introduce key themes related to contemporary art history, visual culture and audiovisual media, providing a broad understanding of the languages that shape art, media and contemporary creativity.

At the same time, design studios allow students to experiment with media design methodologies, developing their first projects and beginning to build their own creative language.

2nd YEAR – DEVELOPMENT

The second year represents a phase of further development of design skills.

Students work on visual concepts, the production of photographic and video content, the design of narrative formats and the use of digital media for the creation of contemporary content.

Through design studios, students develop increasingly complex projects, including video productions, multimedia content, editorial projects and digital formats that integrate different languages.

During this phase, students also begin to engage with brand experience design, exploring how images, video, environments and media can interact to create coherent and engaging experiences.

3rd YEAR – IDENTITY

The third year is dedicated to defining each student’s creative identity and preparing for entry into the professional field.

Students develop projects that connect visual languages, digital environments and contemporary technologies, exploring increasingly complex and multidisciplinary formats.

Through Industry Projects, developed in collaboration with leading companies and professionals, students work on real briefs and engage with the operational dynamics of creative practice.

The programme also includes dedicated modules focused on understanding professional dynamics within the sector, including project management, development of creative work and preparation for entering the job market.

The three-year programme concludes with the Final Project, a personal work that synthesises the skills acquired throughout the course and represents the first step toward a professional career within the creative industries.
