ALESSIA VITALI

Alessia Vitali — Course Coordinator of the BA in Art Direction, Media & Brand Experience for Fashion — is an architect, lecturer, and internationally active professional working across design, media, and cultural innovation.

She holds a PhD in Architecture from Sapienza University of Rome, including a research period at Columbia University in New York, where she explored the relationships between design, heritage, and contemporary transformation. Throughout her academic career, she has collaborated with international institutions such as Columbia University, Parsons School of Design, and BAU Global.

She has developed extensive expertise in designing educational pathways within the field of design, contributing to the evolution of academic programmes and the coordination of AFAM higher education contexts. In this area, she has championed interdisciplinary models, working across interaction design, game design, and emerging technologies.

Alongside her academic work, she leads research and experimentation in advanced design practices — including speculative design, experiential methodologies, and frameworks related to design for kindness — in collaboration with companies, institutions, and international networks. She is also active in the strategic development and curation of cultural initiatives. In the institutional sphere, she collaborates with the Ministry of Culture on processes of activation and development of local networks for cultural enhancement.

She is the co-founder of a design studio based between Rome and Los Angeles, through which she develops projects in the field of contemporary design.

Her research investigates the relationship between space, technology, and the human dimension, exploring new models of experience, learning, and cultural production.
