CLERICI TESSUTO INDUSTRY PROJECT | MASTER FABRICS INNOVATION DESIGN

Our students of the Master in Fabrics Innovation Design have recently undertaken a new Industry Project in collaboration with Clerici Tessuto, an Italian textile company that for over a century has combined heritage, identity and innovation.

The brief was launched at the company’s headquarters, where students also had the opportunity to visit the Clerici Tessuto archive, gaining direct insight into its extraordinary legacy and innovative spirit.

The project challenge focuses on the contemporary reinterpretation of chiné, an ancient weaving technique historically associated with refinement and elegance, reimagined through innovative materials, new structures and modern design languages. The guiding theme is Futurism, the movement that celebrated the dialogue between art, science and technology — a reflection that feels more relevant than ever today.

Led by Project Leader Albino D’Amato, the project represents a complete journey of research and experimentation, leading students to develop sketchbooks, yarn selections and colour palettes, as well as at least six fabric samples with their corresponding colour variants. The process also includes analytical reports and digital presentations, weaving together personal inspiration, the company’s DNA and a contemporary vision.

A special thank you to Clerici Tessuto for this valuable collaboration, and in particular to Matteo Rossini (CEO), Martino Romanò and Gerry Gerosa.
