Arrives for the first time in Italy, in Rome, Forces of Fashion, the Vogue initiative that reveals the world of fashion through the voices of its protagonists. For the occasion, Vogue Italia, Gianpiero Urzetta, a company that sells and rents machines and equipment for professional sewing, and Accademia Costume & Moda(ACM) present LIVE ATELIER, a workshop, open to the public, for the creation of sartorial garments, which will involve 10 students – from the 3rd year of the Bachelor of Arts in Costume & Fashion.
For the entire day of Saturday 21 October, a haute couture atelier will be set up in the spaces of the Ex Mattatoio, in which the 10 selected students, divided into 5 groups of 2, will be called upon to reinterpret one of the iconic looks worn by Isabella Rossellini, guest of the Forces of Fashion initiative, in the film Blue Velvet (1986), written and directed by David Lynch.
The students will have to realise and reinterpret in a contemporary key 3 garments – with the moulagetechnique and the aid of Gianpiero Urzetta’s technologically advanced machines – inspired by the clothes worn by the enigmatic and mysterious character of Dorothy Vallens, played by Isabella Rossellini, an ACM alumna who graduated from the historic course in Costume & Fashion.
An icon from the world of fashion and international cinema, part of the large ACM family, and on the occasion of LIVE ATELIER, also a muse for the new generations of fashion designers.
A unique opportunity for students to experience haute couture workshops, but also for visitors to get up close and personal with Made in Italy techniques and practices, interpreted this time by the new generation of fashion designers.
A. Lupo Lanzara, President of Accademia Costume & Moda, said: “We are very grateful to Vogue for having been selected to take part in an event of international scope such as Forces of Fashion, for the opportunity offered to our students and for the fact that Isabella Rossellini, a former student, is the inspiration behind this tailoring workshop”.
The students involved in the initiative and who will be supervised during the day by the Director of the ACM Fashion Department, Santo Costanzo, and the teacher, Roberta Roberti, are Giorgio Natti Rainieri and Ji Su Park; Eleonora Moreschini and Tommaso La Sala; Tommaso Chini and Alessio Mussati; Letizia Sarasso and Martina Trimboli; Nosakhare Ekhator and Michael Di Giovanni.
