The students of our Master in Alta Moda, Fashion Design during the A.Y. 2023/2024 had the opportunity to develop an Industry Project in collaboration with Tessitura Stamperia Luigi Verga Como, a leading name in the Made in Italy fashion supply chain. This project, under the guidance of Albino D’Amato – designer and ACM Alumnus – showcases the fusion between creativity and craftsmanship.
The students, working in groups, aimed to reinterpret the Jacquard, infusing it with a metamorphosis inspired by the botanical world. The main focus revolves around two fundamental elements: the exploration of materials and the intricate craftsmanship of Jacquard. This effort unlocks a myriad of possibilities in the field of textiles.
DISCOVER THE LAUNCH BRIEF
During their research and creative journey, a visit to the company’s extensive archive was fundamental, a true treasure of textures, colors and patterns that span decades of textile history. The visit was not limited to simple observation, but turned into a collaborative exchange of ideas and innovation. In fact, the students took the unique opportunity to interact with Verga’s professionals, sharing with them their interpretations of jacquard designs inspired by botanical motifs. Together, they studied the infinite possibilities offered by jacquard weaving.
EXPERIENCE THE ARCHIVE
From idea to realization, each student was able to translate their designs into fabrics meticulously crafted by the expert hands of the company’s textile artisans. Their support and experience were fundamental in guiding the class on this educational journey into the world of textiles.
Additionally, the students designed stunning capsule collections, where each piece seamlessly integrated custom-made fabrics and innovative designs.
