In an extraordinary collaboration between the renowned Italian Maison de Couture, Valentino, and Project Officina Creativa, excellence in denim and sportswear, our third-year BA in Costume & Fashion students were given the extraordinary opportunity to try their hand at the creation and realization of one men’s/women’s outfit each using Project’s denim fabrics, being guided and inspired by the Valentino universe.
The final presentation of the looks, the result of this incredible journey, was held in Piazza Mignanelli in Rome, the creative heart of the Maison, together with Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli and the Valentino Team.
The project aimed to explore denim’s creative potential, and over the academic year, they had the chance to experiment, learn, and gain valuable experience and professionalism, as well as stimulate their creativity.
Guided by Valentino’s Creative Direction and Project’s technical support, they crafted sophisticated denim looks, incorporating unique craftsmanship techniques: these included 96 hand-sewn roses and 900 hand-sewn petals, “resist dyeing” techniques achieved through a sustainable process using prickly pear leaves, and manual fabric lamination.
We are very grateful for this truly unique project and extraordinary experience.
