DIESEL INDUSTRY PROJECT | BA COSTUME & FASHION

Our 3yr BA in Costume & Fashion students recently presented their final projects as part of the Industry Project titled “Diesel Behind the Denim”, developed in collaboration with Diesel.

This marked a key moment in their academic journey, offering the opportunity to engage directly with industry professionals. Students presented their collections to Veronica Ossanna, Studio Director, and Massimiliano Napolitano, Head of Ready to Wear & Denim Collection for the Diesel team.

Founded in 1978 by Renzo Rosso, Diesel has become globally recognised for its bold, unconventional approach to fashion. Under the creative direction of Glenn Martens, the brand continues to redefine contemporary luxury, with denim remaining at the core of its identity and experimentation.

Led by Project Leaders Santo Costanzo and Luigi Mulas Debois, and supported by assistants Roberto Carlologgi, Paolo Rinaldi and Alessia Scasseddu, students developed menswear, womenswear and accessories collections, interpreting the Diesel universe through research, innovation and material exploration.

The project required a comprehensive approach, from brand analysis to concept development and storytelling, culminating in fully realised proposals aligned with Diesel’s identity. Particular focus was placed on denim, reimagined through new techniques, treatments and contemporary perspectives, with attention to sustainability and material innovation.

The final presentation was not only an important academic milestone, but also a valuable moment of exchange and dialogue. Engaging directly with industry professionals allowed students to gain insight into real-world dynamics, strengthening both their creative and communication skills.

Experiences such as this highlight the importance of an educational approach closely connected to the industry, preparing students to navigate the complexities of the contemporary fashion system.

Our sincere thanks to Rina Tollio, Creative Talent Acquisition & EB Manager for OTB, and to the entire Diesel team for this valuable opportunity.
