HUGO BOSS INDUSTRY PROJECT | MID REVISION | MASTER MENSWEAR DESIGN

The Industry Project developed in collaboration with Hugo Boss by our MA in Menswear Design students continues to evolve, offering an increasingly in-depth and engaging learning experience. Following the initial launch of the brief, students have recently taken part in a second key stage of the project: the Mid Revision.

This milestone represented an important opportunity to present the progress of their individual research and design development, receiving direct feedback from the brand and refining their approach in line with real industry expectations.

On this occasion, students had the privilege of meeting Felix Spanke, Team Lead Design HUGO Menswear Wovens, whose presence provided valuable insight into the creative and product development processes of a global menswear brand. His contribution helped students gain a clearer understanding of how conceptual research is translated into concrete design solutions within an international context.

During the Mid Revision, students presented their ongoing work on the project “Neo-Modern Menswear Fall/Winter 2027”, a research-led exploration of late 1990s Neo-Modernism. From initial cultural references to early design proposals, the discussion focused on how principles such as formal reduction, precision and functional clarity can be interpreted within a contemporary menswear collection.

Particular attention was given to the coherence between concept and execution: from the application of the Bauhaus grid system to the development of silhouettes, materials and proportions. The dialogue with the HUGO BOSS team encouraged students to further refine their projects, strengthening both their design methodology and their understanding of industrial processes.

Moments like this are essential within the structure of the Industry Project. The Mid Revision is not simply a checkpoint, but a true moment of exchange — where ideas are challenged, perspectives are broadened, and projects gain depth through professional feedback.

For students, engaging directly with designers such as Felix Spanke means confronting the realities of the fashion system, understanding the expectations, constraints and opportunities that define the industry today.

As the project moves towards its final phase, students will continue to develop their Fall/Winter 2027 proposals, translating their research into complete and coherent design outcomes.

This collaboration with Hugo Boss once again confirms the value of a learning approach rooted in direct industry engagement. Within the MA in Menswear Design, projects like this enable students to build a rigorous, contemporary and internationally oriented design vision, preparing them to navigate the complexities of the global fashion landscape with confidence.

A heartfelt thank you to the entire HUGO BOSS team for their continued support of our students.
