GRADUATION DAY | MASTER THE ART AND CRAFT OF THE COSTUME DESIGNER

On 12th November 2024, an important milestone was reached for the students of the Master in The Art and Craft of Costume Designer at Accademia Costume & Moda. The day was dedicated to the final presentations, a pivotal moment that crowned months of study, planning, and dedication.

During the event, the participants presented to the commission their personal interpretation of a work of their choice. This project represented the culmination of a unique training path aimed at shaping professionals capable of combining technical expertise and artistic sensibility. The choice of the work, left to the students, ranged from classics of theatre, cinema, and original works, demonstrating an extraordinary variety of approaches and interpretations.

Each student carried out an individual project, starting with an in-depth study of the setting of the chosen work. Through historical, cultural, and stylistic research, each project was transformed into a visual narrative capable of immersing the audience in the context of the work. The real challenge, however, was designing the costumes of the characters, giving them identity and narrative coherence.

The costumes were not just garments, but real tools for telling a story, revealing emotions, and emphasising the personality of each character. From the fabrics chosen to the sartorial details, every element was meticulously crafted to reflect the message of the work and the student’s personal interpretation.

The commission had the opportunity to review high-level projects, the result of intense and passionate work. What became evident was the students’ ability to translate their creativity into tangible projects, demonstrating a great mastery of realisation techniques and a heightened sensitivity to visual storytelling.

The final presentations on 12th November were not only a celebration of the talent and commitment of the students, but also a testament to the power of costume to tell stories, evoke emotions, and bring imaginary worlds to life.

This experience marks for our students the beginning of a path full of possibilities, with the awareness that they have gained solid skills and an artistic background that makes them ready to make their mark.
