Rome, 10th November 2020. Fiamma Lanzara, Chairman of Accademia Costume & Moda, passed away, after a long illness, on the night of Monday 9th November 2020.
Fiamma had Accademia in her DNA. She has lived the life of Accademia since its foundation: first as a student and, later, working in communication alongside the founder, her mother Rosana Pistolese. Year after year her role and participation in the life of Academia has grown later to becoming Secretary General, Deputy Chairman and Chairman.
Accademia was her life, her passion, her second family. She has always held high the founding values of Accademia, which she has been able to preserve and transmit to the teaching staff and students who have followed one another over the years: considering Fashion as Costume, as Culture, as Humanity. This combination of “Costume and Fashion” is still what today distinguishes the uniqueness and creative identity of each student who has chosen to study at Accademia.
Confirming the unique contribution that Fiamma has made in over the past 50 years of activity, in May this year the Library was named after her, which together with the historical archive represent the largest centre of cultural fashion documentation in Lazio. The “Fiamma Lanzara” Library, with its 4,500 monographic volumes and 12,000 magazine issues covering more than 150 years of fashion journalism. The “Fiamma Lanzara” Library is the first documentation centre for fashion in Italy to have received – from the General Directorate of Archives of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism (MIBACT) – the recognition of “exceptional cultural interest for the characteristics and peculiarities of the materials possessed.”
But not only that, over the years Fiamma was able to weave deep relationships with “Made in Italy” companies, Maisons and entertainment productions, offering to the Accademia students a complete and multidisciplinary educational path.
To carry on this immense cultural heritage, its vision and its values, are today her sons: Lupo Lanzara and Furio Francini, respectively Deputy Chairman and CEO of Accademia Costume & Moda, with the didactic management, teachers, employees and collaborators.
Lupo Lanzara, Vice President of Accademia Costume & Moda declares:
“Our beloved President, Fiamma Lanzara, has left us. With my brother Furio we would like to share this painful news. Our mother and her vision, determination, passion, heart, resilience, strength, generosity and love, have continually inspired all of us and will do so forever. The Accademia Costume & Moda founder Rosana Pistolese and her daughter Fiamma Lanzara, our President, will continue to move forward with all of us, certain of the courage and sentiment that unites us all”.
Thank you Fiamma 🖤
