From 13 to 16 January 2026, during the 109th edition of Pitti Immagine Uomo, the Sala Ottagonale at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence hosts MENSWEAR RECOSTRUCTED, an exhibition that explores menswear as process, experience and cultural construction. At its core are the projects by students of the Academic Master in Menswear Design, developed in partnership with Brioni, a global symbol of Italian sartorial excellence.
This is not an exhibition focused solely on outcomes, but a narrative that reveals the journey: the thinking behind the gesture, the research shaping the form, and the time required to transform an idea into a garment.
MENSWEAR RECOSTRUCTED takes shape as an immersive narrative that recreates the essence of a tailoring atelier. A living environment populated by toiles, prototypes, processes and finished garments, where visitors can observe the complexity of sartorial making at close range. Students work in live performance, giving form to gestures, methods and the precision that defines high-level menswear.
The exhibition becomes a space of dialogue between tradition and contemporaneity, between craftsmanship and experimentation, offering a concrete and up-to-date vision of menswear design.
At the heart of the exhibition lies an intensive one-year programme that combines the Italian tailoring tradition with contemporary design research. The Master in Menswear Design approaches menswear as a complex system, exploring volumes, materials, construction and language, while encouraging personal interpretations of the relationship between classical tailoring and contemporary fashion.
Throughout the 2024/2025 academic year, students were guided by Fabio Quaranta, Course Leader, in a path centred on method, awareness and design identity, preparing emerging designers to engage with a constantly evolving industry.
DISCOVER THE MASTERA key element of the educational journey was the experience in Penne, a symbolic place for Italian sartorial savoir-faire and home to Brioni’s ateliers. Here, students immersed themselves directly in the culture of making: observing processes, engaging with artisans, and understanding the value of time, detail and the transmission of knowledge.
More than a visit, it was a profound educational experience, where tailoring became language, territory and shared culture. A fundamental step that allowed tradition to be transformed into a design tool and brought directly into the final projects presented in the exhibition.
MENSWEAR RECOSTRUCTED presents the final and industry projects by: Ludovica Brisi; Pietro Giuseppe Cabassi; Luca Colarossi; Matteo Demuru; Michael Di Giovanni; Gaia Fiorenzi; Ariadna González Garriga; Benedetta Nardiello; Doriano Ruggiero; Riccardo Simon; Thomas Trenchard; Chiara Villani
Each project represents an individual vision of contemporary menswear: reinterpretations of tradition, experimentation with volumes, material research and new approaches to sartorial construction. Together, they map a menswear landscape that goes beyond style, positioning fashion as a conscious and structured design practice.
The Sala Ottagonale, a masterpiece of the High Renaissance, with its eight-segment brick vault built using the “herringbone” technique – the same used for the dome of Santa Maria del Fiore – hosts the exhibition like a precious jewellery box. A space that safeguards and enhances the dialogue between sartorial craftsmanship and contemporary fashion.
The exhibition design by Studio Blixa transforms the room into a construction site: a “temporary” perimeter interacts with the historic dome, becoming a metaphor for the sartorial process itself. Bodies, garments, waiting and transformation are brought into relationship. The exhibition is curated by Claudio Marenco Mores, Coordinator of Fashion Business & Product Ecosystems, and Santo Costanzo, Fashion and Costume Design Area.
MENSWEAR RECOSTRUCTED offers a clear insight into what it means to train in menswear design today: entering a path where tailoring, research, industry and culture are in constant dialogue. An experience that demonstrates how the future of menswear emerges from the intersection of creative vision, technical competence and contextual awareness.
An open invitation to those who see menswear not simply as a product, but as a project, a language and a way of shaping the present.
