FENDI
Project: “FENDITIONS” THE RE-EDITION OF AN ICON
Project Leader: Luigi Mulas Debois
Master in Accessories Design a.y. 2022/23
Made in Italy, strong roots, an extraordinary heritage and a constant look to the future, these elements are the key to interpreting the enormous success of one of the most celebrated and authentic fashion brands that needs no introduction. Fendi is a brand that makes authenticity, understood as a meeting point between heritage and innovation, between history and creative and technical research, its hallmark.
From these premises comes the invitation to immerse yourself in the history and archive of Fendi. The fashion archives undoubtedly represent a topic of extraordinary interest in the context of corporate history and, for quite some time now, they have been at the center of many public and private enhancement and sharing initiatives. The archive has a very crucial role: it is the custodian of the DNA of a brand, its history, and its archetypes, it protects its past so that it meets the future while keeping the essence of the brand unchanged.
Students are therefore invited to study and understand the brand’s DNA in order to be able to reinterpret some of its iconic products, both bags and shoes, specially selected for the project by Silvia Venturini Fendi. An in-depth study of the Brand, its products, construction techniques and materials it is all the more necessary to undertake this element very seriously. A visit to the archive is essential and a precious and opportunity. The aim of the project is to create a capsule collection based on the Re-edition of selected iconic products.
During the creative and design phase, the students had the opportunity to visit the archives of the Roman Maison, as well as the Fendi shoe factory in Porto San Giorgio and the Leather Goods and Accessories Pole, located in Florence.
A big thank you to all the Fendi family for this fantastic opportunity!
