Introduction

Five weeks to enter the world of Fashion Heritage: a short, flexible programme designed to fit around your work.

An archive does not simply preserve the past. It helps build the future.

A fashion archive is not simply a room filled with objects. It is a place where a brand’s identity is preserved, but also a resource from which to design what does not yet exist.

The Fashion Archive Specialization Course, developed in collaboration with Rinascente, offers an intensive five-week, weekend-based programme exploring Fashion Heritage, an area that is becoming increasingly central to fashion brands and companies.

Through case studies, practical models and concrete methodologies, including the use of specialised software, the course explores Fashion Heritage as a genuine business function: no longer simply a matter of safeguarding and preserving historical heritage, but a way of enhancing a brand’s cultural identity and a strategic tool for its development.

You learn how to design a Fashion Archive model, exploring the key stages of organisation, cataloguing, conservation, digitisation and access to archival materials. The archive thus becomes a living space, capable of engaging with new product design, communication, storytelling and brand image.

The programme also introduces the role of Digital Heritage, expanding the possibilities for managing, accessing and engaging with cultural heritage, and enabling archives to become part of contemporary research and design processes.

The aim is to offer you a real, practical and integrated understanding of Fashion Heritage, together with the tools to transform a fashion company’s historical and cultural heritage into a resource capable of generating value and competitive advantage.
