Introduction

Over 50 partners. Real projects. One Master’s programme to enter the heart of the knitwear industry.

The Master in Creative Knitwear Design is a highly specialised programme, unique within fashion education: more than 50 partners, including yarn manufacturers, companies, brands and specialist workshops, contribute to students’ education, creating a direct bridge between the Academy and industry.

The Master’s programme offers an immersive experience in the world of Knitwear Design, from yarn and knitwear technique research to the design and development of collections, combining design culture, experimentation, technical expertise and an understanding of the production supply chain.

The programme is delivered in collaboration with Modateca Deanna, an international fashion documentation centre that preserves a unique heritage dedicated to the history of fashion and knitwear. Its archive, comprising more than 60,000 knitwear garments and accessories, together with yarns, samples, prototypes and technical documentation, allows students to study first-hand the evolution of materials, techniques and languages within Knitwear Design.

At Modateca, research goes beyond the concept: students engage directly with historical and contemporary garments, materials and design references, developing a practical understanding of products and their evolution in connection with the culture, technical expertise and innovation of the supply chain.

At the heart of the Master’s programme is a network of leading industry partners specialising in knitwear, jersey, embellishment, industrial technology and craftsmanship, as well as international brands involved in teaching activities. Through Industry Projects, workshops, research and experimentation, students work on real briefs and engage directly with professionals and companies.

A learning model that brings creativity, research and industry together, giving students the opportunity to develop specialised skills, shape their own design identity and build a professional network while still studying at the Accademia.
