PROGETTO SORRISO NEL MONDO

On December 5th, we had the honor of hosting the 12th edition of the Charity Shopping event organized by Progetto Sorriso nel Mondo at our Campus in Milan. This significant charitable gathering was meticulously arranged by Sara Sozzano Maino, Giulio Martinelli, and Daniel Munari, with the purpose of supporting the organization’s noble international mission.

Established in 1997, Progetto Sorriso nel Mondo Onlus is an international association dedicated to the treatment and care of craniofacial malformations in children, such as cleft lip and palate, in low-resource countries like Bangladesh and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The association comprises volunteer surgeons, anesthetists, and nurses who, with dedication, return annually to the same facilities during the same period, providing assistance and hope to children and families with limited financial means. While facial malformations affect, on average, one child in a thousand, in affluent countries, they are treated within the first few months of life; however, in low-resource countries, they often go untreated, leading to marginalization and, at times, abandonment of the affected children and their mothers.

In addition to the crucial surgical activities, Progetto Sorriso nel Mondo has implemented educational projects, healthcare initiatives, and social outreach to improve the quality of life for those facing disadvantaged circumstances.
