Open Doors for the 150th Anniversary of the Esquilino District

To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Esquilino District, Accademia Costume & Moda opened the doors of its new campus at Via Pellegrino Rossi 10, offering a weekend of discovery, dialogue, and celebration. The event, held on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 December 2024, welcomed over 350 visitors, thanks also to the patronage of the First Municipality of Rome.

During the “Open Doors” days, guests had the opportunity to explore the work created by students from the undergraduate and master’s programmes, providing a chance to appreciate the talent and dedication of young creatives.

The new campus, with its modern spaces and student work visible from the street, has been designed to be an inclusive place, not only for students but also for the entire Esquilino District community. This project aims to foster continuous dialogue with the local area, enhancing the connection between education, innovation, and the local community.

The historic site on Via della Rondinella remains a key location, hosting the master’s school and preserving the cultural heritage of the institution. This balance between past and future reflects the commitment to growth that honours its roots while looking forward with determination.

The initiative provided an opportunity for local residents, industry professionals, prospective students, families, and curious visitors from across Rome to come together. Guided tours offered insights into the importance of active collaboration between the neighbourhood and the cultural organisations that enliven it.

The 150th anniversary of the Esquilino District was not only a moment to celebrate the history and heritage of the area but also an opportunity to look to the future with a spirit of innovation and inclusivity. Accademia Costume & Moda reaffirms its commitment to building a shared future in synergy with the community.
