Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 18.00, Accademia Costume & Moda inaugurates the Academic Year 2017_18 by dedicating the evening to the cinema and theater.

This choice stems from the desire to talk about the Italian and Roman artisan excellence that work for international cinema, theater, opera and ballet and which must be told and known by the new generations, educated by the Academy.

In this context, the Irene Brin Prize, established in 1969 by Rosana Pistolese, founder of the Academy and which every year is given to a former student of the same, will be given to Francesca Livia Sartori by Maurizio Millenotti, an internationally renowned costume designer nominated twice at Oscar for Best Costumes. It will be a moment to share their professional and personal experience with students and guests, confronting the sartorial and laboratory excellence invited, and guided in the discussion by Cinzia Malvini, Fashion journalist for La7 and Director of BOOK Moda.

Francesca Livia Sartori, award-winning costume designer at the David di Donatello and Nastri d’Argento for her work in cinema, is a member of the European Film Awards – EFA since 2008 and of the Academy Award – AMPAS since 2015.

They will join the conversation on “Rome and the Artisans of Cinema”, Giuti Piccolo of the Farani tailoring, Massimo Pieroni of the Pieroni laboratory, Simone Bessi of the Annamode tailoring, Carlo Poggioli of Jewel House, Luigi Rocchetti of Rocchetti & Rocchetti, Romolo Rancati of E. Rancati stage equipment and Dino Trappetti of Tirelli Costumi.

For the occasion, the Academy will present the renewed didactic offer, which this year sees the recognition by the Ministry of Education, University and Research, for the three-year Academic Diplomas in Fashion Editor – Styling & Communication and Media Design & Arts Multimedia.
