The second edition of FORMA, the festival dedicated to the fashion schools of the city of Rome, has just come to a close at La Nuvola by Fuksas in the EUR district.
Over the course of two intense and inspiring days, the event brought together students, professionals, institutions and leading figures from the contemporary creative landscape around a shared reflection on the role of fashion today.
This year’s central theme, “Contemporary Identity: clothing, communities, belonging”, invited participants to explore the relationship between fashion, identity, belonging and self-representation within contemporary society.
Within this context, our students had the opportunity to present their projects, engage with students from other Roman institutions and take part in moments of dialogue, research and creative exchange.
Two days filled with conversations and reflections encouraged participants to consider clothing not simply as an aesthetic element, but as a true cultural language and a tool for both individual and collective expression.
Our participation in FORMA represented an important opportunity for students to experience first-hand the dialogue between education, cultural industries and contemporaneity, while engaging directly with professionals and key figures from the fashion system.
Throughout the festival, students had the opportunity to listen to and engage with important voices from the fashion and creative industries, including Maria Grazia Chiuri, Karishma Swali, Carolina Cucinelli, David Koma, Etienne Russo, Francesca Ragazzi, Maria Luisa Frisa, Lavinia Biagiotti, Lorenzo Serafini, Veronica Berti, Hydra and many others.
Talks, discussions and exchanges explored themes connected to the evolution of contemporary fashion, the construction of identity through clothing, the emergence of new creative communities and the relationship between culture, image and social transformation.
Today more than ever, fashion is not simply about product or trend: it is a space for research, belonging and identity construction.
Experiences such as this become an integral part of the educational journey, allowing students to develop not only design skills, but also a critical and conscious perspective on the role of fashion within contemporary society.
A heartfelt thank you to Alessandro Onorato, Councillor for Fashion, Tourism, Sport and Major Events of Roma Capitale, and Roberta Angelilli, Councillor for Economic Development, Commerce, Craftsmanship, Industry and Internationalisation of Regione Lazio, for promoting and making this important initiative possible.
