Our Master in Creative Knitwear Design students have completed their Industry Project developed in collaboration with Antonio Marras, presenting the results of a journey of research, experimentation and design dedicated to contemporary knitwear.
The Final Presentation marked the culmination of a project that challenged students to engage with the creative identity of one of Italian fashion’s most distinctive brands, interpreting its aesthetic and narrative universe through the language of knitwear.
The projects were presented to Patrizia Marras, Head of Style Department, and Efisio Rocco Marras, Product Manager, who met with the students to explore their proposals, share insights and provide direct feedback on the outcomes of their work.
An Autumn/Winter 2027 Capsule Collection Created Entirely Through Knitwear
The Industry Project began at Nonostante Marras, the brand’s Milan space, where students received their brief and had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the creative world of Antonio Marras.
The challenge was to develop a Men’s and Women’s Autumn/Winter 2027 capsule collection comprising at least ten complete looks created entirely through knitwear, reinterpreting the brand’s distinctive aesthetic codes through a personal and contemporary perspective.
Under the guidance of Project Leader Gigi Vezzola and assistant Chiara Borghi, students explored the expressive and structural possibilities of knitwear, experimenting with stitch structures, combinations of different and innovative yarns, and the development of complex shapes and volumes.
Particular attention was devoted to designing outerwear and lower-body garments using knitwear exclusively, without incorporating conventional woven fabrics. This challenge required students to bring together technical experimentation, material expertise, creative research and three-dimensional design.
The Final Presentation: From Research to Final Design Proposals
During the Final Presentation, students presented the complete development of their projects to Patrizia Marras and Efisio Rocco Marras, from their initial research and concept development to moodboards, material experimentation and final design proposals.
Each project offered a different interpretation of Antonio Marras’s creative universe, characterised by an ongoing dialogue between fashion, art, craftsmanship, memory and cultural influences.
The presentation became an opportunity for meaningful dialogue and exchange with the brand’s team, allowing students to explain their creative decisions, explore the technical solutions behind their designs and receive valuable feedback directly from the professionals involved. The experience offered students a deeper understanding of how research, experimentation and individual creative identity come together in the development of a collection, while engaging with the creative vision and professional expectations of an established fashion house.
Connecting Education and Industry: The ACM Approach
The collaboration with Antonio Marras forms part of the educational experience offered by the Master in Creative Knitwear Design at Accademia Costume & Moda, developed in collaboration with Modateca Deanna. The programme places knitwear research, material innovation, technical experimentation and direct engagement with the fashion industry at the heart of its approach.
Through Industry Projects, students have the opportunity to respond to real-world briefs, work alongside brands and industry professionals, and apply the knowledge and skills acquired throughout their studies to concrete design challenges.
The project with Antonio Marras provided an opportunity to explore the creative potential of knitwear while developing a deeper awareness of the relationship between individual vision, brand identity and the processes involved in collection development.
Our heartfelt thanks go to Antonio Marras, Patrizia Marras, Efisio Rocco Marras and the entire team, as well as Oniverse Group, for supporting our students throughout this journey, generously sharing their expertise, creative perspectives and professional experience, and making such an inspiring and challenging project possible.
