ACM PROUDLY COLORFUL

Accademia Costume & Moda stands up for the LGBTQIA+ community (acronym universally used to refer to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender, Queer, Intersex and Asexual people, where the + indicates all other gender identities and orientation not included in the acronym), through a digital campaign to support the ongoing battle of the LGBTQIA+ community for equal civil rights.

ACM – that has always been attentive and active with respect to issues related to inclusion and equality of all genders – celebrates Pride Month by wearing rainbow colors, a symbol of peace and struggle for equality, under the slogan “Proudly colorful”.

Throughout the month of June, the month in which the battle for the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community is celebrated worldwide, the ACM logo will take on the rainbow colours in the “Progress Pride Flag” variant, proposed in 2020; on the left there will be a side triangle, formed by 4 stripes (respectively from the outside to the inside) of color: black (in memory of AIDS victims), brown (for the protection of the rights of African-American people) and light blue and pink (plus a white triangle) for trans and transgender people.

The rainbow version of the ACM logo will appear, therefore, in all communication channels: website and social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Linkedin).

In addition, ACM and its community (both staff and students) will be carrying out digital initiatives in support of LGBT+ rights throughout the month of June.

“This year, Accademia Costume & Moda wants to be an active part of “Global Pride Month” with the goal of deepening and increasing the culture and sensitivity on LGBTQIA+ issues of both our students and our community.
We want to work together to make the Academy an increasingly inclusive place, because ever since its founding in 1964, the Academy has been a place for growth, exchange and discussion on current issues. This is just the first part of a journey we want to take forward in fostering an environment that welcomes, shares and promotes freedom of expression in all its forms; a living place where the spirits that make it so, can shine their own light in support and respect of cultural and personal diversity.”
