OVERVIEW & OBJECTIVES

Jewellery & Eyewear Design: Craft, Innovation & Technology is a specialised course developed at the intersection of jewellery culture, fashion design and emerging technologies. The programme combines the codes of luxury design with AI, generative design, 3D modelling and new digital tools, encouraging participants to envision jewellery beyond its traditional boundaries.

New digital tools are introduced as a natural evolution of established design methodologies. Artificial intelligence becomes part of the creative process as a tool for research, experimentation and development, expanding the designer’s possibilities without replacing their individual vision.

The programme begins with an exploration of the aesthetic, material and symbolic codes that define High Jewellery and luxury design. Participants are guided through the development of a complete creative and design process, from research to concept development, from sketching to 3D modelling, through to prototyping and the construction of a coherent product identity. The course therefore addresses every stage of the design process.

From international trends to emerging expressions of luxury, the programme explores the evolution of aesthetics, materials and design methodologies within contemporary jewellery, while examining the new frontiers of generative design and artificial intelligence applied to the creative process.

The aim is to educate a new generation of jewellery designers who are able to operate across design culture, aesthetic research, technology and craftsmanship. Participants will learn to interpret the transformations taking place within the luxury system and to develop jewellery collections and projects capable of responding to the needs of an ever-evolving luxury market, while maintaining a strong connection with the values of Italian manufacturing excellence.

The programme, structured into modules, also includes opportunities for exchange with companies, professionals and key industry players, enabling students to engage with professional practices, challenges and briefs that closely reflect those of the contemporary jewellery and luxury sectors.

The course is designed for students, recent graduates, professionals, goldsmiths and creatives who wish to develop a contemporary vision of jewellery design and acquire new design, digital and technological tools

Jewellery & Eyewear Design: Craft, Innovation & Technology is a programme consisting of four complementary modules, each comprising 60 hours, designed to explore the languages, tools and emerging frontiers of jewellery and accessories design.

The programme is designed to be completed in its entirety, by attending all four modules. Alternatively, participants may complete the first two modules, which form the compulsory core of the programme, or complete the first two modules and continue with one of the two subsequent modules, thereby choosing a specific area of specialisation.

Module 1 | Jewellery Design: Heritage & Foundations (Compulsory Core)

An introductory module dedicated to the foundations of jewellery design. The module explores the history of jewellery, aesthetic codes, materials, gemstones, ergonomics, and both analogue and digital representation techniques.

Artificial intelligence is introduced as a tool to support research, sketching and the development of a visual language.

Keywords: Prompt, AI, Sketching, Heritage
Final Task: development of a portfolio through images, concepts and design experimentation.

Module 2 | Fashion Jewellery & Collection (Compulsory Core)

A module dedicated to fashion jewellery and its role within the fashion system. Participants will explore trends, storytelling, materials, components and assembly techniques, while developing a collection aligned with contemporary market languages.

Digital tools and artificial intelligence will support stylistic research, design development and product visualisation.

Keywords: Storytelling, Trends, Style Shooting, Component Research
Final Task: design and production of a fashion jewellery capsule collection.

Module 3 | Jewellery Design & Innovation

An advanced module dedicated to experimentation within the fields of High Jewellery and luxury design.

Participants will explore generative design, artificial intelligence, 3D modelling, innovative materials, photorealistic rendering and generative video, combining new technologies with manufacturing culture and craftsmanship.

Keywords: Prompt, Visual Imagery, AI, Research & Innovation
Final Task: design of a jewellery piece or capsule collection, complete with renderings, shooting and generative video content.

Module 4 | Eyewear Design & Product

A module dedicated to eyewear design, understood as the synthesis of aesthetics, functionality, ergonomics and technological innovation.

The module explores the history and trends of eyewear, materials, components, sketching, 3D modelling and prototyping, with particular attention to brand identity and sustainability.

Keywords: Sketching, 3D Printing, Style, Trends, Vision, Colours & Materials
Final Task: development and prototyping of a fashion eyewear capsule collection.

In order to keep the quality of the experience high, the Jewellery & Eyewear Design: Craft, Innovation & Technology  has a limited number. To access it, there is an interview discussion following the presentation of curriculum and motivational letter.

The programme is designed to be completed in its entirety, by attending all four modules. Alternatively, participants may complete the first two modules, which form the compulsory core of the programme, or complete the first two modules and continue with one of the two subsequent modules, thereby choosing a specific area of specialisation.
