DesignBlok Diploma Selection: Bringing New Creative Visions Together

Part of DesignBlok, Prague’s international design festival, Diploma Selection is a competition organised in collaboration with EUNIC Cluster Prague to celebrate outstanding graduation projects in product and fashion design.

Now in its twelfth edition, the competition brings together 30 finalists, including 15 in product design and 15 in fashion design, selected by an international jury. Through exhibitions, runway shows and presentations, participants have the opportunity to showcase their work to industry professionals and the wider public, exchanging perspectives, experiences and creative approaches.

Carry-On: Exploring Memory and Identity Through Knitwear

With “Carry-On”, Elif explores the relationship between migration, identity and clothing. Her research begins with photographs of her parents following their arrival in the Netherlands, capturing garments that preserve a connection to their place of origin and a sense of familiarity.

This personal exploration is complemented by architectural details documented by the designer in Istanbul, translated into vibrant colours, patchwork jacquards and intricate cable-knit techniques. Knitwear becomes a means of expressing what we carry with us when moving between places, both materially and emotionally.

From the Master to an International Stage

Elif’s creative journey continues following the Master in Creative Knitwear Design Fashion Show, held on 4 June 2026 at Fondazione Sozzani in Milan.

Developed in partnership with Modateca Deanna, the Master brings together research, craftsmanship and experimentation, supporting students in developing their own creative language through direct engagement with the expertise, heritage and practices of the knitwear industry.

Elif’s selection demonstrates how this journey can extend beyond the final collection, creating opportunities for new professional connections, international exposure and further creative development.
