Our MA in Accessories Design students have launched a new Industry Project in collaboration with Louis Vuitton, one of the most iconic and influential Maisons in the international luxury landscape. This collaboration represents an extraordinary educational opportunity for our students and further strengthens the strong connection between ACM and the creative industry.
Accademia Costume & Moda is the only Italian school developing an Industry Project dedicated to accessories design with the Maison, a recognition that reflects the excellence of the academic programme and the exceptional talent nurtured each year within the Master’s course.
The project, titled “Future Icons: Reimagining the Louis Vuitton Bag for 2054”, is led by Project Leader Luigi Mulas Debois, with the support of assistant Paolo Rinaldi.
During the launch of the project, students had the opportunity to engage directly with members of the Louis Vuitton team:
They shared valuable insights into the brand’s identity, creative process and the future perspectives of accessories design.
Founded in 1854 in Paris, Louis Vuitton has represented for more than a century and a half a symbol of elegance, innovation and artisanal savoir-faire. Originally established as a house specialising in the creation of travel trunks, the Maison has built over time a unique aesthetic and cultural heritage, becoming one of the most recognisable and influential brands in the worlds of fashion and luxury. Its distinctive style seamlessly combines tradition and modernity, always maintaining a strong vision towards the future.
Inspired by these values, the Industry Project invites students to imagine the new iconic bag for the Louis Vuitton woman in 2054, interpreting a female figure who embodies elegance, functionality, technological innovation, sustainability and a new concept of contemporary luxury.
The design process unfolds through several stages, beginning with an in-depth understanding of the brand’s identity and stylistic codes, and moving towards the exploration of future scenarios and the evolving lifestyles of women in 2054. Students will also analyse potential developments in materials, technologies and functional needs, with the aim of developing a design vision that combines creativity, innovation and respect for the essence of the Maison.
Each student will therefore develop a complete project including an inspirational mood board, a research sketchbook, a colour palette, a materials selection, design sketches and a digital presentation that narrates the entire creative process.
Through this experience, students will have the opportunity to engage with one of the most influential players in contemporary luxury, developing a conscious and forward-looking design vision. A valuable opportunity to imagine the future of luxury accessories and to contribute, through their creativity, to the creation of tomorrow’s icons.
Our sincere thanks to the entire Louis Vuitton team for this incredible opportunity!
Accademia Costume & Moda thus confirms its position as a leading fashion school in Italy, standing out among schools of fashion and universities of fashion for the quality of its educational pathways. From undergraduate courses to specialised programmes such as the Master in Accessories, each course is designed to shape professionals ready to engage with the industry and interpret the future of design. A dynamic and creative environment where talent, vision and strong connections with the real world make these fashion courses a truly transformative experience, opening the door to the next generation of contemporary luxury.
