Studying fashion means understanding how creativity, craftsmanship and industry come together. For students of the Master in Alta Moda & Fashion Design at Accademia Costume & Moda, this connection with the real world of fashion is an essential part of their education.
Recently, students had the opportunity to experience it first-hand as they were invited to attend the resee of the Valentino prêt-à-porter collection FW 26/27 “Interferenze”, presented in Rome by Alessandro Michele, Creative Director of Valentino and an alumnus of the Accademia.
The invitation followed the runway show held in Rome on 12 March at Palazzo Barberini, a landmark location that hosted one of the most anticipated fashion events of the season.
For the students, the resee represented a rare opportunity to step inside the world of an international luxury fashion house and analyse a collection up close.
After the runway presentation, the resee offered a deeper look into the collection and its creative construction. Students were able to study the garments in detail, examining silhouettes, fabrics, embroidery, colour palettes and styling choices that define the Valentino FW 26/27 “Interferenze” collection.
The collection reflects Alessandro Michele’s distinctive creative vision, blending cultural references, historical inspiration and contemporary aesthetics. Through layered textures, rich colours and intricate craftsmanship, the collection explores the idea of “interference” — a dialogue between past and present, tradition and experimentation.
For aspiring designers, moments like this are invaluable. Seeing a collection outside the runway context allows students to focus on technical construction, material research and design development, gaining insights that cannot be learned from images alone.
The experience was particularly meaningful for the students because the creative mind behind the collection shares the same academic roots.
Before becoming one of the most influential designers of his generation, Alessandro Michele studied at Accademia Costume & Moda, where he developed the foundation of his creative approach.
Today, as Creative Director of Valentino, Michele continues to shape the contemporary fashion landscape with a vision that merges cultural depth, aesthetic research and artistic experimentation.
For students attending the resee, witnessing the work of an Accademia alumnus who now leads one of the world’s most iconic fashion houses serves as both inspiration and a tangible example of where a creative journey can lead.
The Master in Alta Moda & Fashion Design at Accademia Costume & Moda in Rome is an intensive postgraduate programme designed for students who want to develop a strong creative identity while gaining a deep understanding of the fashion industry.
Through workshops, design laboratories and collaborations with international brands, students are encouraged to explore their creative vision while learning how fashion collections are conceived and produced within the professional world.
Rome has long been one of the capitals of Italian couture and fashion culture. Being based in the city allows Accademia Costume & Moda students to connect with fashion houses, designers and creative institutions that shape the global industry.
Opportunities such as attending the Valentino “Interferenze” resee demonstrate how education and industry can intersect in meaningful ways, offering students the chance to experience fashion from the inside.
For those dreaming of building a career in fashion design, moments like these reveal what studying in the right environment can offer: access, inspiration and real connections with the industry.
And as the journey of Alessandro Michele shows, sometimes the path to leading a global fashion house begins right here.
