RATTI INDUSTRY PROJECT | MASTER FABRICS INNOVATION DESIGN

ROME, JULY 5, 2024 | The students of the Master in Fabrics Innovation Design have finally presented their final projects to the Ratti team, created and developed for the Industry Project in collaboration with the company from Como.

The aim of this project was to create a collection of animal print designs contextualized in contemporarysettings, a complex challenge that requires a modern and innovative vision to generate a balanced and unprecedented result in an already extensively explored research area. Throughout their creative journey, the students had the great opportunity to work under the supervision of Dafne Karras, Project Leader and Head Consultant Designer Knit-Jersey Woman at Brioni.

In ancient Greece, the term “zoote” (meaning life) referred to what we know today as animal prints. Wearinganimal skins was associated with Dionysian cults, although since the origins of their existence, humans havecovered themselves with skins and represented them in clothing and art. Different animals have always beenassociated with various symbols, which have changed over time: lust, wildness, ferocity, emancipation, with positive or negative connotations depending on the social context.

A research process that contextualizes meanings and forms, that examines other elements, and that works on experimentation and style analysis is the key to creating an innovative and sophisticated project. Equallyimportant is adhering to sustainability principles, especially when connected to a theme like nature, whichprovides the initial inspiration for the project.

Thanks to Teresa Saibene, External Relations; Felicina Ritarossi, Product Development Coordinator; Elhamalsadat Sakaki, Collection Coordinator; Elisa Savarè, Director of Business Unit Luxury; and the entire Ratti Team for this great experience!
