Valentino: EXTRA-ORDINARY. WHEN BASICS MEET EXPERIMENTATION

VALENTINO
Project: EXTRA-ORDINARY. WHEN BASICS MEET EXPERIMENTATION
Project Leader: Antonio Bandini
Master in Alta Moda, Fashion Design, a.y. 2022/2023

Industry Project in collaboration with Valentino, Yvan Mispelaere, Design Director Valentino Haute Couture.

“All women aspire to be elegant and, without understanding the true meaning of this term, they buy tons of clothes, bags and shoes in a lifetime. Then a woman arrives at a dinner in black tuxedo trousersand a white silk shirt, a perfect classic, and you notice her. She is elegant.” Franca Sozzani

Valentino brand has been synonymous with Alta Moda since its foundation. Research, innovation and a particular sensitivity towards the zeitgeist, the ability to intercept and interpret society and its changes, have made it a global iconic bran both in the past and present. Having the opportunity to deal with this Maison that combines heritage and future, authenticity, and vision, represents a unique opportunity.

Industry Brief

The theme proposed by Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli:

“The white poplin shirt. When the ordinary becomes extraordinary with personal proposals for looks/silhouettes/combinations.” it is deceptively simple but hides the complexity of careful research and contemporary development in compliance with the codes of the Maison.

Knowledge of fashion history, contemporary fashion, art and design, the design and sartorial expertise, the Maison’s analysis of its contemporary vision, are the starting elements for tackling the project.
From the white shirt, iconic object of male and female wardrobe to constructive and material experiments, up to proposals of looks, silhouettes and combinations, students are invited to confront the ordinary to transform it coherently with the image of Valentino.

Thanks to Valentino for giving our students the opportunity to explore an innovative fashion concept that comes from tradition, build a vision nourished by conceptual thinking and transformed through an experimental approach.
