IL GIOCO DELL’AMORE E DEL CASO
DI PIERRE DE MARIVAUX
REGIA E ADATTAMENTO SCENICO LORENZO LAVIA
16, 17, 18 GIUGNO | TEATRO INDIA | ROMA
Eight young costume designers from Accademia Costume & Moda sign the costumes for Pierre de Marivaux’s “Il gioco dell’Amore e del Caso”. The show, with the direction and adaptation of Lorenzo Lavia, will be staged from 16 to 18 June at the Teatro India in Rome, and is the result of a project developed in synergy between the Accademia Costume & Moda, the Teatro di Roma and the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia.
Sara Addi, Chiara Cecchini, Flavia Degl’Innocenti, Flavia Mandalà, Viola Mastini, Cristiana Mece, Giada Pellegrino and Isabella Raimondi, with the supervision of Maestro Andrea Viotti, have imagined, designed and embodied the seven costumes that are, together, dressed , disguise and scenography. Contemporary forays, such as the choice of fabrics – neoprene and ripstop – and technical features – snap buckles and zippers – blend perfectly with the lines and volumes of the eighteenth century.
Following the direction of Lorenzo Lavia, the costume designers carried out a transversal research work, creating seven costumes / wraps for the actors. Philological adherence has given way to the need to transform the dress into scenography in movement. Hence the use of the fabric for parachutes, ultralight and able to open up in large volumes; neoprene, to give structure without weighing down the body, and zips and buckles to make the game of dressing and undressing more fluid.
Thanks to the transversal collaboration between the three institutions, the respective students have completed a workshop path that has put them in relation with the different professions of the theater, allowing an exchange and a unique creative comparison of its kind. Guiding each part, Maestro Andrea Viotti, director Lorenzo Lavia and composer Antonio Di Pofi.
“All the practical problems that can arise in this work context have been addressed, but thanks to collaboration and supporting each other we have learned to overcome them and transform them into experience”, the eight costume designers of Accademia Costume & Moda .
