“Per un vestire gentile (How to dress nicely)”
GUEST LECTURE: SIMONA SEGRE-REINACH
The students of the Master in Fashion Sustainability & Industry Evolution had the opportunity to meet Simona Segre Reinach, cultural anthropologist, Associate Professor and Scientific Head of the Fashion Area of the Master Design and Technology for Fashion Communication of the University of Bologna and Director of Zonemoda Journal and author. Her projects focus on education, social justice and environmental sustainability and include the Gianni Segre Foundation, the Better Cotton Initiative, and the Weizmann Institute of Science. Simona’s dedication to these causes has earned her numerous awards and accolades.
The meeting was an extension of the presentation of her latest book “Per un vestire gentile” and developed through data and visions of a sustainable and impactful future. During the meeting, a broad overview of the new materials used and usable for beautiful, sustainable, and cruelty-free fashion was presented. The materials of the next generation “which are not simply substitutes for previous and better materials, nor more or less abstract allusions to animalier, but precious allies for the construction of a new paradigm of the quality of dressing”, which also leads to “a reinvention of the characteristics of luxury in terms of ethics and sustainability”.
