From idea to material. From material to form.
Drawing is only the beginning. In Fashion & Costume Design, you learn how to turn a vision into a project, and a project into something that can truly take shape.
This area brings together Bachelor’s programmes, Master’s programmes and Specialization Courses dedicated to design, development and production across fashion and costume. Different pathways, with different durations, levels and areas of specialisation, but united by one clear idea: creativity grows when it meets the ability to make.
Here, design culture, research and experimentation meet an understanding of materials and techniques. You draw, study, build, make mistakes, make changes and start again. You move through every stage of the process: from concept to research, from material selection to design, from product development to production.
Because understanding materials also means knowing how to transform an idea into something possible. And at ACM, the ability to make is never simply about technique: it grows from research, culture and the ability to give direction to your own vision.
You do this in direct connection with the professional world. Brands, manufacturing companies, ateliers and industry professionals become part of your learning experience through briefs, Industry Projects, workshops and collaborations. What you learn therefore goes beyond an exercise: it becomes experience.
The aim is to give you the tools to build your own design identity, together with the cultural understanding and skills needed to navigate a constantly evolving system. Because designing fashion and costume means understanding what already exists, imagining what does not yet exist and having the skills to make it possible.
