Our Master in Alta Moda, Fashion Design students recently presented their final projects to Santo Costanzo, our Head of the Fashion and Costume Area and Project Leader of “Transmissions: Heritage and New Creation 2025/2028”, developed in collaboration with the Cristóbal Balenciaga Museoa.
The project aims to establish a dialogue between a new generation of designers and the legacy of Cristóbal Balenciaga, a central figure in 20th-century Haute Couture, through a process that combines research, analysis and creative experimentation.
Following an initial study phase at the museum — where students gained direct access to the collections and explored construction techniques, materials and silhouettes — each participant developed an individual project: a capsule collection reinterpreting Balenciaga’s aesthetic and structural principles through a contemporary perspective.
The final presentation marked a key moment in the programme. Projects were evaluated based on research depth, formal innovation, technical execution and the ability to translate Balenciaga’s heritage into a distinctive and personal vision.
At the end of the review, Santo Costanzo selected the most outstanding projects, which will move forward to the next phase, including the development of prototypes and their official presentation at the Cristóbal Balenciaga Museum.
