ACM Costume Talents 2026, taking place at Spazio Diamante in Rome from 4 to 15 February 2026, is Accademia Costume & Moda’s annual event dedicated to showcasing emerging talent in the field of costume for performance, providing a platform where education, research and professional practice meet through real production experiences.
The 2026 edition presents Casa di Bambola – Parte 2, a project developed by third-year BA Costume & Fashionstudents: Daniela, Flavia, Lucrezia, Marta, Valeria and Vittoria. This is an all-female talents project, designed to accompany students from academic study to professional practice.
The work takes place within a real theatrical production by Viola Produzioni – Centro di Produzione Teatrale, offering students the opportunity to experience the timing, dynamics and responsibilities of professional theatre. It is not an academic simulation, but an immersive experience that includes collaboration with the director, adapting continuously to the needs of the stage and respecting the workflows of contemporary theatre production.
The project is coordinated by Maestro Andrea Viotti, Head Reference of the Costume Department at Accademia Costume & Moda, with the support of tutors Alessandra Intini, Matteo Cardia and Concetta Assennato, who guide the students throughout the creative and practical process.
The workflow involves several stages: text analysis, character study, visual and historical research, design and costume construction. Costume is approached as a narrative and dramaturgical tool, capable of conveying identity, relationships and emotional tensions beyond mere aesthetics.
In this process, students are required to make conscious choices, justify them, and defend them within a collaborative context, developing design autonomy, critical thinking and a strong sense of responsibility.
The project is further enriched by collaboration with some of Italy’s leading theatrical tailoring workshops, including Farani, Pompei and Rocchetti e Rocchetti, giving students direct exposure to artisanal expertise and specialist skills in theatrical costume.
This dialogue between education and the professional world is a central element of ACM Costume Talents, creating an authentic and highly qualified learning experience.
Casa di Bambola – Parte 2 also highlights the power of an all-female talents group, showcasing six young costume designers working together, sharing visions, responsibilities and decisions. The collaborative dimension becomes a space for growth, dialogue and the construction of a conscious professional identity.
ACM Costume Talents continues to be a key moment for Accademia Costume & Moda, where student talent takes shape within real theatre production, bridging the gap between education and professional practice.
