Rome, 14 May 2025 | Accademia Costume & Moda (ACM) and Brancaccio Musical Academy (BMC) are pleased to announce the success of “Sogni”, a performance staged on 13 May 2025 at the prestigious Teatro Sala Umberto in Rome.
Loosely inspired by A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare, Sogni is a work written by Iulia Bonagura and directed by theatre director Lorenzo Gioielli. This theatrical project represented not only an important creative opportunity, but also the showcase for the ACM Costume Talents 2025 programme, an initiative dedicated to highlighting emerging talent in costume design.
The stage costumes were created by six third-year students from ACM’s BA in Costume & Fashion: Emilia Centenaro, Matteo Longari, Camilla Mercuri, Carmela Moliterni, Inbar Ronen, Maria Sole Squarci.
Under the guidance and coordination of Maestro Andrea Viotti, Director of the Costume Department at Accademia Costume & Moda, the students undertook a complex and in-depth creative and technical process. Following a detailed psychological analysis of the characters, each costume was the result of experimental material work, artisanal manipulation, hand-dyeing, and fabric treatments—all carried out entirely within the Academy’s workshops. The result is a collection of stage costumes that fully reflect the characters’ identities and the dreamlike world of the play.
Bringing the characters to life on stage were the actors—students from the Brancaccio Musical Academy—who played the following roles:
PUCK: Sofia Maria Bassan | HELENA: Agnese Brilli | HERMIA: Giulia Cecchini | ZEPPA: Ilaria Celani | BECCUCCIA: Sibilla Di Segni | LYSANDER: Emanuele Frascadore | HIPPOLYTA and TITANIA: Lidia Latella | DEMETRIUS: Ruben Maddocco | BOTTOM and EGEUS: Edoardo Munzi | THESEUS and OBERON: Simone Parisi | FLUTE: Elisa Pattuglia | FAIRY and FUSA: Francesca Sirtori
This initiative confirms the strong synergy between Accademia Costume & Moda and Brancaccio Musical Academy—a virtuous collaboration that builds concrete bridges between education and the professional world, offering students the opportunity to engage with the complexities of a real theatre production.
Through projects like this, Accademia Costume & Moda reaffirms its commitment to training a new generation of costume designers, equipped to enter the world of performance with expertise, passion, and an innovative spirit.
