Rome, 13 May 2025 | Accademia Costume & Moda (ACM) is proud to announce that Rob & Rylan’s Grand Tour, a BBC Studios production partly filmed at the ACM Rome Campus, has won the BAFTA 2025 in the Factual Entertainment category — one of the most prestigious honours in international broadcasting.
In the Italy-themed episode, presenters Rob Rinder and Rylan Clark visit ACM to explore the cultural and visual legacy of the Macaroni, a group of flamboyant 18th-century men whose style and identity challenged conventions and anticipated modern subcultures.
The visit was hosted by Adrien Roberts, ACM’s International Director of Education, and took place within the ACM Costume Department, with full engagement from both students and faculty.
The segment begins with Rylan’s introduction: “We are about to discover the world’s most famous fashion school” — a phrase that resonates with warmth and symbolic power, celebrating the Academy’s international standing.
Students were actively involved in the filming process, sharing their work and engaging with the presenters in a moment of exchange, creativity and storytelling. The episode captures the vibrant daily life of the Academy, its artisanal excellence, and its didactic richness.
ACM’s Costume Department, directed by Maestro Andrea Viotti, is internationally recognised among the world’s leading centres of excellence, with alumni working across the most advanced creative and interdisciplinary contexts — from major theatres to global streaming platforms. Each year, dozens of students contribute to professional productions, gaining experience and building industry connections.
It reveals, transforms, connects. At ACM, costume education is rooted in technical precision, historical knowledge, and conceptual experimentation, preparing professionals who can shape the future of performance and storytelling.
This collaboration with BBC Studios is part of a wider ecosystem of partnerships that ACM cultivates across theatre, film, television and cultural institutions, strengthening the dialogue between education and industry.
“It was a special, intense, and deeply human day.
Rob and Rylan embraced the experience with curiosity, intelligence and humour.
Seeing that moment recognised with a BAFTA is incredibly rewarding.”
– Adrien Roberts, International Director of Education
