Eight young costume designers from the Costume & Fashion Academy signed the costumes for Pierre de Marivaux’s “The game of love and chance”. The show, directed and adapted by Lorenzo Lavia, was staged from 16 to 18 June at the Teatro India in Rome, and is the result of a project developed in synergy between the Accademia Costume & Moda, the Teatro di Roma and the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia.
Sara Addi, Chiara Cecchini, Flavia Degl’Innocenti, Flavia Mandalà, Viola Mastini, Cristiana Mece, Giada Pellegrino and Isabella Raimondi, with the supervision of Maestro Andrea Viotti, have imagined, designed and embodied the seven costumes that are, together, dressed , disguise and scenography. Contemporary forays, such as the choice of fabrics – neoprene and ripstop – and technical features – snap buckles and zippers – blend perfectly with the lines and volumes of the eighteenth century.
Following the direction of Lorenzo Lavia, the costume designers carried out a transversal research work, creating seven costumes / wraps for the actors. Philological adherence has given way to the need to transform the dress into scenography in movement.
