The candidates may participate by delivering a project inspired to René Gruau through an international competition, details of which are all on the institutional website.
“René Gruau is one of the most important fashion illustrators of all time. His work has influenced both the areas of fashion and costume. Personal friend of the founder of the Accademia, Rosana Pistolese, Gruau not only was a permanent lecturer at the school, but has also designed its logo”.
Moreover, the evening will be an opportunity to present the very important partnership between Accademia Costume & Moda and a number of companies representing the excellence of the Italian Textile district of Como and Biella. Alesilk by Massimo Peverelli, Gentili Mosconi by Francesco Gentili, Lanificio di Sordevolo by Patrizia and Damiano Perino, Ostinelli Seta by Gigi Bianchi.
The partnership through the financial and product support of these companies will see the start up of the Project “Tessuteca” (Textile Lab), a space for material research and knowledge and the only one existent in Rome. The project will enlarge even more the “experience” of our students, providing them with all of the competences requested by the professional world. Presently Accademia, through the effort of its Careers & Placement office, offers to 90% of its graduating students the opportunity of an internship in both fashion and costume and many of them are then confirmed with permanent contracts.
Special Guest of the evening will be our alumnus Albino D’Amato, Co-Creative Director for Maison Vionnet and Founder and Creative Director of Maison Albino, fashion consultant for Max Mara, who will be interviewed by Cinzia Malvini, fashion journalist for La7 and Director for BOOK MODA. The talk will focus on his personal path, from the first steps at the Accademia up to the important professional achievements he has pursued.
The Irene Brin Prize, now at its 47° annual edition, will be awarded to Gianna Gissi, costume designer and one of the very first students, who graduated in 1967. Winner of two David di Donatello awards (Italian Oscars) and nominated several other times for the same award, her career has been characterized by numerous important films like “Il Marchese del Grillo”, “Il Postino” … directed by film directors such as Mario Monicelli, B. Fenoglio, G. Amelio, Massimo Troisi, Roberto Benigni and many others.
