A Roman synergy of the Capital’s most important fashion brands with the Accademia Costume & Moda regarding the new Master’s Degrees 1st Level 60 ECTS credits – and recognized by the MIUR (Italian Ministry of Education, University and research) will start as of Academic Year 2015-16.

The Maison VALENTINO will collaborate on the new Master’s Degree 1st Level in Alta Moda, Fashion Design (starting November 2015), lasting one academic year, aimed at Bachelor Degree students who wish to deepen their competences towards the High Fashion sector. An educational path based on both theoretical and practical classes, focused on research, laboratory work and the study of couture techniques. The course also focuses on the analysis of Haute Couture from a technical, historical, sociological point of view and on an in-depth study of decorative arts for experimentation and creation. Moulage / draping is a distinctive element in the creation of couture garments, combined with the study of traditional and innovative 3D construction techniques to define a “new concept of beauty” in a contemporary manner. At the end of the course, students will have created a portfolio of their own work as well as complete garments, which they will be able to present during a placement opportunity. The Final Project work will be the creation of a High Fashion capsule collection, followed by a 100-hour internship within an industry brand to complete the necessary course credits.

FENDI, on the other hand, is involved in the Master’s Degree 1st Level in Accessories Design, which is focused on construction and craftsmanship for creatives who want to start a career as a designer or technical expert within the Leather Goods, Shoes and Eyewear industries. Seminars with industry experts, laboratory activities, company visits to archives, heel & leather manufacturers, tanneries, production warehouse vists, workshops and individual studies will be supported by cultural modules true to and in keeping with the academic practice and principles of the Accademia founded1964. At the end of the course, students will have produced a portfolio of their own work and the corresponding prototypes, which they will be able to present during a placement opportunity. The Final Project work will be a creation of accessories defined by the students which may contain bags, shoes, small leather goods and eyewear, followed by a 100-hour internship within an industry brand to complete the necessary course credits.

The two Master’s Degrees, whose working languages are both English and Italian, will avail themselves of the collaboration of professionals from VALENTINO and FENDI on the briefing, collection progression and the evaluation and feedback of their final work. The Careers & Placement Office of the Accademia will be involved in supporting candidates with interview opportunities in order to facilitate their placement into the work environment.

The 22 scholarships offered by the Accademia for the Academic Year 2015-16 include the two Master’s Degrees.
