The designer of accessories is required to research, analyse and interpret fashion trends, to correctly insert a collection of accessories within a contemporary stylistic landscape. This training simulates the path of industry, research of materials and trends, the study of new trends, designing & experimentation, technical development to final product and its communication.
At the end of the training – conducted in collaboration with FENDI – students will be able to pursue a professional career in a creative studio, researching trends, developing products, and filling various professional roles that exist in the fashion industry: from designers to product manager as well as designing for their own business.
The First Level Master’s degree in Accessory Design aims to instil organizational skills form both a design and operational prospective, essential characteristics for a professional figure able to effectively resolve issues within productive laboratories with understanding of the creative potential and the possibilities for implementation of projects. This course is fully recognized by the Italian Ministry as a Master’s of the first level with 60 credits (CFA/ECTS).
This Master’s Course simulates the industry path, essential research for materials and trends, the development of new trends, market understanding, designing, technical developments and experimentations to the communication of the specialised product.
Students at the end of the training will be able to pursue a professional career as part of a team in a creative fashion accessory design studio as a designer, researcher or involved in product development.
This Master’s Degree is aimed at those who have successfully completed a recognised first degree (typically BA equivalent to Level 6 of EQF-European Qualifications Framework), in a subject area relevant to this course, and wish to study with the aim to seriously focus on a career in Alta Moda/Haute Couture:
- Students who have successfully completed an undergraduate degree in a design discipline or a subject area linked to the Master’s Course: YES
- Humanistic and Liberal Arts Degree students who have successfully completed an undergraduate course not linked to the specialist area of the Master’s: YES, but the Course Council will evaluate the single application to understand the suitability and level of preparation of the candidate
- Industry professionals of the sector and students who have not completed a recognised undergraduate degree, but have completed private courses within the subject area of the Master’s course: YES, but will not receive a recognised Master’s Degree (they’ll just receive a certificate of participation).
Theoretical lessons, seminars with experts in the field, practical workshops, guided tutorial support one to one and self-directed study, visits to industry production facilities, galleries and exhibitions make the course vibrant and relevant to the subject.
Due to demand and a closed number of places available (to maintain the quality at this high level of study) to gain access to the course it is required the successful completion of an admission assessment, interview and presentation of a Portfolio. At the end of the Master the students will receive the I Level Academic Master’s Diploma given by the Accademia Costume & Moda and recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education.
The course duration is one academic year (twelve months, curricular internship included) and attendance is mandatory however to be accepted at the final assessments students must have at least 80% proven attendance.
